Nonsuch was named
as one of the outstanding schools inspected in 1999.
Despite limited facilities,
Nonsuch was awarded the Sportsmark in recognition of excellent achievement
and links with the local community.
Each of its Year
2000 three double AL candidates for music were awarded scholarships at
their chosen Colleges of Music. One student is the Leader of the National
Youth Orchestra. She is one of three AL students.
Another girl, a harpist,
has appeared at Wigmore Hall and is on the brink of an International soloist
career.

The Lawrence Sheriff
School was praised by the head of the government inspection body for being

and 1999 reports - The Chief Inspector nominated Queen Elizabeth's as
"an outstanding successful school".
According to the
Financial Time's 'A' Level League Table for 1999, Queen Elizabeth was
ranked above Eton, the first time it has been overtaken by a state school.

Eleven students from
Adam's Grammar School were offered conditional places at either Oxford
or Cambridge Universities for Autumn 2000. Headmaster Jim Richardson said:
"There has been a strong upward trend in the number of Adam's Grammar
school students applying and gaining places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
The major factor here, I think, is the work staff have done to raise the
expectations of students and to show them just what they are capable of
achieving".
An Adams' Grammar
School Lower Sixth Form Student was chosen to exhibit at the National
Science Fair.
Paul , a lower sixth
form student, was selected to exhibit his Design and Technology project
work at the National Science Fair in London on 7th and 8th March. For
his much acclaimed Design Technology project, Paul invented a self-levelling
wheelchair tray to carry a variety of things, from a cup of coffee to
a pen and notepad. Paul's project won him a prestigious Arkwright Scholarship.

Four Churston students
have successfully completed early GCSE's in Information and Communications
Technology. At the time they sat the examination Andrew , Simon and Matthew
were in Year 9. James was in Year 10. Three of the boys secured A grades.
Andrew achieving an A*, which reflects great credit on their efforts and
the work of their ICT teacher who led them through the course. Students
normally take this GCSE during Year 11 as one of nine other subjects.
This was an excellent
achievement which will also have given them a real insight into the pressures
of coursework and public examinations.

Edward, a Tiffin sixth
former has won a place in the Great Britain Junior World Rowing Championships
in Bulgaria.
The schools choir
is Known nationally and is often in demand in the London concert halls.
Tiffin school was
awarded a prize from the Royal Geographical Society and their sponsors
HSBC Holdings for achieving one of the highest examinations in 1999 A-Level
Geography.
